Science Olympiad State Competition
On May 4th, or the same day as ”May the fourth/force be with you,” the best Science Olympiad teams from each county in Michigan went to Western Michigan University for the Michigan State SciOly Competition! In Division B - the middle school competition - we were against about 48 teams! After a long day of events of everyone competing, finally in the evening was the award ceremony where we would find out how we did! The medals for students were given in top eight and the schools placed 7-12 got a plaque and the top six schools got a trophy!
Everyone was really worried of the results at the end of the day but, at the same time were happy to make it this far!
I know what you all have been waiting for, the results, so before I do that, here are all the names and events of people that have gotten top eight in their event and won a medal in Larson:
Pat yourself in the back if your name is up there or if you got top eight in the state for SciOly, because it is a big accomplishment to be top eight in the state at something!
Now the results of Larson and our school got…9th place out of 48 schools!! Other middle schools in Troy, such as Baker won 13th place and Boulan Park won 4th place! The high schools in Troy who competed in Division C - high school competition - such as Athens got 4th place and Troy High got 6th place! These are mind-blowing and awesome results!
Since only the top two schools will get to go to nationals, that means our seasons are over, but our middle schools from Troy got top fifteen at state level and our high schools got top ten at state level, which is a really big thing! Everyone worked extremely hard, and it was a great season for us all! This was seriously the most exciting and nerve-wracking competition! We are all proud of our Troy schools for making it this far!
