Our Student Athletes Have Finished Competitive Play for the Winter

Girls Powerlifting

For the 3rd year in a row, the Red Hawks are state champs. They had a total of 73 points at the state meet. Many lifters won individual awards.

• Mikayla Twum, Senior - All-State

The Colts placed 8th at the State meet. Zaria Johnson Jr. placed 1st in the 155-weight class at the state meet.

Boys Powerlifting

The Red Hawks took home 4th place at this year's state meet with a total of 34 points. The Hawks were also able to take home 1st place in the Powerlifting Regional. 7 lifters were able to place individually in Regionals.

The Colts were able to take home 10th place at the state meet. At regionals, 4 lifters placed in individuals.

Synchronized Swimming

At the state meet, Troy United Synchronized Swimming came in 2nd overall. The team won 3rd in the tech team competition. They received 1st and 6th in duets. The team won 1st place in the trio competition, and to round it off, they received 2nd and 5th place in the combo competition.

Boys Bowling

The Red Hawks had an amazing season with many incredible feats. The Hawks were the MHSAA Division 1 Regional champions. The Red Hawks were able to receive a few individual awards as well.

• Gaige Gajewski - First Team All-Conference

• Stephen Roslund, Senior - First Team All-Conference

• Noah Rourk, Senior - Second Team All-Conference

• Jonathan Zaitouna, Senior - Second Team All-Conference

The Hawks won the OAA Conference Red Division Regular Season with a 14-1 record and a 7-1 record within the division. The Red Hawks were able to receive the Team Sportsmanship Award voted on by the OAA Coaches. The Hawks ended their season, placing 14th during States. The Hawks had two individual bowlers competing for the team. Senior, Jonathan Zaitouna placed 24th individually, having a total of 1216 points throughout 6 games. Gaige Gajewski placed 27th in the state, having a total of 1209 points.

The Colts secured their first tournament win in close to a decade with the team winning the 2024 Bakersdozen tournament. Senior, Jacob Kondratyev, brought home an individual regional win for the Colts this season.

Girls Bowling

The Colts won 1st place in the region and went to Thunderbowl Lanes for States. There, the Colts placed 14th in the State. For the individuals, junior Peytyn Herron placed 39th in the state, bowling a total of 996 points for all six games. Senior, Adeline Alex bowled a total of 942 to place 48th in the state.

Girls Skiing

Avondale/Troy United: The Lady Colts were able to race in the Division 1 Region 2 championship. The team placed 7th with a total of 239 points.

The girls placed well in the Slalom portion.

• Alexis Phillips, Troy, Freshman - Finished 4th with a total of 63.17 points scored.

• Arielle Yoffee, Troy - Finished 29th with a total of 79.48 points scored.

• Riley Durak, Troy - Finished 31st with a total of 82.70 points scored.

They also scored well in the Giant Slalom portion.

  • Alexis Phillips - Finished 9th with a total of 48.97 points.

  • Arielle Yoffee - Finished 27th with a total of 53.38 points.

  • Riley Durak - Finished 43rd with a total of 56.76 points.

Boys Skiing

Avondale/Troy United: The Colts of the Avondale and Troy team also competed in the Division 1 Region 2 championship. The team placed an incredible 13th place with 405 points. Two skiers both had points for the Colts in the Slalom.

• Ted Mayotte, International Academy East - Finished 21st with a total of 70.86 points scored.

• Logan Baksik, Troy - Finished 60th with a total of 128.72 points.

Then, heading back to the Giant Slalom, the Colts performed well.

• Ted Mayotte - Finished 36th with a total of 51.22 points.

• Logan Baksik - Finished 69th with a total of 91.0 points.

Berkley/Troy Athens: The boys team competed in the Division 1 Region 2 championship at Mount Holly where the team placed 6th with 267 points. The Berkley/Troy Athens team had some great results in the Slalom.

• Ryan Scobel, Troy Athens, Junior - Finished 31st with a combined time of 75.86

• Corbin Tye, Larson Middle School - Finished 59th with a combined time of 118.51

Then, when competing in the Giant Slalom (GS), the Red Hawks showed up again.

• Ryan Scobel - Finished 31st with a combined time of 50.95

• Corbin Tye - Finished 65th with a combined time of 66.75

Boys Swim & Dive

The Red Hawks were the 2025 OAA Blue League Champions. Many swimmers were able to receive some awards as well.

• 200 Medley Relay Team: Collin Barrow, Haziel Nunez, Brenton Emory, Luke Wooley - All League Honors

• 200 Individual: Haziel Nunez - All League Honors

• 100 Freestyle: Collin Barrow - All League Honors

• 100 Backstroke: Chase Blum - All League Honors

• 400 Freestyle Relay Team: Jack Leonard, Haziel Nunez, Mark Yabut, Luke Yabut - All League Honors

• 200 Free: Ben Bricker - OAA Red All League

• 500 Free: Larson Custer - OAA Red All League

• 100 Fly: Mason Meyer - OAA Red All League

• 400 Free Relay Team: Ben Bricker, Mason Meyer, Kaiden Hammond, Larson Custer - OAA Red All League

The 400 Free Relay team and Ben Bricker for the 100 backstroke have both broke school records that have stood for over a decade.

Wrestling

The Red Hawk wrestling team had an impressive season this year. The team was 2025 Team League Champions, which they have not won since 2021. Heading even further, the Hawks were District champs; a feat they have not won since 2008. The Hawks were 18-9 on the season and 4-0 in their league. Head coach Robby Keyes was named the OAA Blue Coach of The Year.

Troy's season ended on February 5 in the District 131 District Semifinal with a 42-32 loss to Rochester.

Boys Basketball

This season, the Troy Athens Red Hawks won their first district championship since 2014. Athens played Troy in a cross-town matchup on February 26 at Royal Oak High School. Athens won 53-44 and beat Troy for the first time since 2015. Then, the Hawks played the Royal Oak Ravens on February 28. The Hawks won the game, 39-37, which sent them to Regionals. The Hawks ended their season on March 4, in the Region 8 game. Athens, being the winner from the District 29 bracket and Warren De La Salle being the winner from the District 30 bracket, played at Troy High School, where De La Salle won 76-41.

The Troy Colts ended their season on February 26 in an exciting matchup between the Red Hawks. The Colts were 10-13 to end the season. Senior, Rochester Christian University commit, Mason Parker broke the school record for most points scored in a career, having over 1,300 points scored throughout his 4-years on varsity.

Girls Basketball

The Lady Red Hawks ended their season with a record of 8-15. Their season ended with a first game loss to Troy where the final score was 41-32.

The Colts also had an 8-15 record this season. Their season ended on March 5, with a 45-33 loss to Berkley in the District 29 bracket.

Competitive Cheer

The Colts were able to place 7th in the District #4 cheer competition with a total of 689.56 points that the judges gave them.

The Red Hawks placed 10th in the District #4 cheer competition with a total of 612.04 points scored throughout their routines.

Gymnastics

Athens-Berkley-Troy-Avondale: During States, Troy Senior Isabella Moore represented the team in the Division 2 Vault and Floor. She scored an 8.4500 during her vault routine. During her floor routine, she scored an 8.7250.

Boys Hockey

The Troy United team had a very impressive 16-9-0 record. Their season ended on February 20, with a 5-0 loss to Bloomfield Hills in the Region 6 matchup.

The Troy United Women’s team had playoffs on February 27.
