Inaugural SSAB Student vs. Staff Basketball Game
Troy Athens High School was happy to host the SSAB’s Troy School District Staff vs. Student basketball game on December 4th. The game was an exciting match up organized by the Superintendent Student Advisory Board. The SSAB strives to connect students in leadership positions to the real world applications of leadership and teamwork, building strong leaders in all grades and ages of high school.
The evening of fun included prize baskets won through a raffle and snacks and drinks for all attendees. At halftime of the game, the skilled Athens Varsity Dance team performed, closely followed by an exciting performance by the Riyaz dance group.
The basketball game was a wild match with its highs and lows, but quickly into the second half of the game the staff took the lead. The TSD staff pulled through with an eight point win against the students.
All profits raised from the event will go towards funding the Troy School District’s annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service. The MLK Day of Service offers a chance for Troy community members to make items like fleece blankets for the Children’s Hospital, Grace Centers of Hope, and other organizations working to better the community.
